Welcome to Nayi Zindagi, a social enterprise dedicated to supporting ethnic minority individuals with physical and learning disabilities, as well as mental health barriers. Our journey began in 2007 when our founder, Rziah Asif, recognized a significant gap in services available to the ethnic community.

Rziah’s commitment to this cause led her to work at Eastwood Day Centre, where she supported four women from this community. However, she realized that the existing services were insufficient for this vital community. Driven by her passion to make a difference, she resigned from her position and embarked on a journey to obtain a Diploma in Health and Social Work.

During her academic pursuit, the families of the women she had been supporting sought her help. Despite her busy study schedule, Rziah decided to establish a two-hour weekly session at the Unity Centre to provide support to these individuals. The initiative gained momentum, and soon, more support workers were hired to assist the growing community attending these sessions.

A significant turning point came when Rziah connected with Jean, a support worker recruited by MENCAP to bridge the gap between services and the ethnic community. Jean’s collaboration and dedication further enhanced the support for Nayi Zindagi’s members.

Over time, the initiative has evolved and expanded its services. Now based at
